The little habits and rituals — they’re working. More drawing is happening. Nothing on my mind, just anticipation: What can charcoal do for an insect?
The simple ladybug is first. What starts out a sweet (and rather boring) drawing gets more interesting by the forth and fifth one. So that when I start the tarantula, it goes pretty much straight to the spiky line language. But, oops on the abdomen — too dark too soon. The bee in the flower offers texture, movement and a ground plane of sorts. With the wasp, complexity stings me rather dramatically. Where exactly is each leg coming from and going to?

My favorite? This ladybug.

Followed by the bee in flower.
Yours?
It’s fab having all these drawings to review this week. Quantity has a quality all of it own.
A closer look.

Have to admit, the wasp made me laugh!
