It’s International Laboratory Animal Technician Week 2024. Let’s take a moment.
Laboratory animal technicians bring their compassion every day to the job. 365 days a year, they clean, feed and water the animals in their care. They monitor the animals’ health, minimize their distress and enrich their lives.
Laboratory animal technicians are working on something bigger than themselves.
A soulful thank you for the beautiful and difficult work you do for all of us. It matters — for the animals in your care, for the people and animals needing life-saving treatments and for their families.

A closer look: In a future post, I’ll write what it was like to do this project. More specifically, how this animal lover came to see, respect and appreciate animal care staff who work in laboratory settings.

Thanks for this thoughtful post.
I was interested enough to watch a video on rat tickling. How interesting! Who would have thought?
